Only some of these events are produced by the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. Most are being created and sponsored by other groups and agencies.  Being listed here does not mean that we have reviewed the material contained.  We are trying to provide a variety of resources to hopefully help make your life a little easier.  For additional information on any of these items before or after the event please contact the organizer directly (listed in the item description).

Webinar – 5/24/22 – How to Expand Veterinary Access, Increase Revenues, and Prevent Burnout – HASS

May 24, 2022 @ 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM PDT

Free

Veterinary care is expensive, and can be hard to access—causing pets to go without needed treatments, and be given up to shelters. This in turn contributes to burnout among shelter workers, veterinarians, and veterinary staff.

The Open Door Veterinary Collective is working to change that. This nonprofit, founded in 2021, has developed a business model for nonprofit, for-profit, and government veterinary clinics that prioritizes access to care, and increased revenue. In addition to helping keep families together and pets unnecessarily out of shelters, Open Door sees this model as helping prevent compassion fatigue in veterinarians and staff.

Join us May 24 at 5pm CT for a webinar about the Open Door Veterinary Collective hosted by Dr. Sara Pizano, the founder of Team Shelter USA, author of The Best Practice Playbook for Animal Shelters, and a national trainer for Open Door, and panelists, Mandy Combs, Veterinary Practice Manager at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton Veterinary Services and Dr. Stephanye Quinn, Staff Veterinarian at the Community Pet Care Clinic in Toledo, Ohio and Veterinary Ambassador for the Open Door Veterinary Collective National Training team. Learn how this model can work for you and your community.

We encourage veterinarians, directors, and staff of for-profit and public vet clinics and hospitals to attend, as well as shelter staff and directors, and veterinary-related shelter community partners.

Can’t make it live? Still sign up and we’ll send you the recording.
