DESCRIPTION:We all know the incredible bond that humans and pets have and the importance of keeping them together. Foster care is a powerful way to achieve that. That’s what the We Foster Challenge is all about! \nBy participating in the Challenge this May\, you’ll grow your foster base to help keep pets with people and out of the shelter and have a chance at $210\,000 in grant prizes. By fostering pets\, we also foster community\, foster inclusivity and foster love. \nThe We Foster Challenge is meant to help shelter and rescue organizations create or expand community-based foster programs that will get your neighbors involved and proudly saying\, “We foster! So can you!” As we shift towards a more community-centric model of animal welfare\, it’s important to get everyone in your area involved. After all\, fostering is a job just about anyone can do. \nTo help you prepare\, we will be sharing lots of resources and we will be hosting four informative Huddles. (See more information below.) \nSo\, let’s embrace foster programs that are inclusive and diverse\, put people front and center\, and help pets from ever having to enter the shelter at all. DESCRIPTION:Maddie’s Fund is introducing a new grant opportunity to support the operations of U.S.-based Black\, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC)-led government agencies or nonprofit animal welfare or veterinary medicine organizations. Our focus is on organizations who primarily deal with dogs and/or cats and/or their people. Please reach out to us at 925.310.5450 or grants@maddiesfund.org if you have any questions about your eligibility. \nThis $1 million grant opportunity is intended to provide operating support to qualifying organizations. Grants will range from $5\,000 to $50\,000 depending on community size\, organization size and demographics and impact the organization has in their community. \nTo be eligible for this grant\, your organization must:\n– Be a U.S.-based government or non-profit animal welfare or veterinary medicine organization who focuses on dogs and/or cats and whose head of organization (Executive Director\, President\, etc.) is BIPOC.\n– Be current on Maddie’s Fund grant reporting\, if you’ve received a grant from us in the past.\n– Be an active participant in Shelter Animals Count\, if applicable to your organization (If approved for a grant\, you agree to join the Maddie’s Fund Coalition in Shelter Animals Count).\n– Submit a completed report through the Maddie’s Fund Grants Portal.
