SUMMARY:Webinar - 5/11/21 - Pet Friendly Domestic Violence Shelters: Creating a pet-friendly program that works for your community - NACA/Justice Clearinghouse
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to take a deeper dive and learn how to create a program to help domestic violence survivors and their pets find safety and healing together? This webinar will focus on overcoming barriers to creating pet-friendly programs by focusing on collaboration and thoughtful program planning. We’ll discuss fundraising\, construction\, and policies and procedures for both on-site and off-site programs\, and attendees will leave with concrete next steps. This webinar is intended for domestic violence and animal shelter representatives\, veterinarians\, and anyone else interested in supporting a pet-friendly program in their community. \n  \n\n \n  \nThe National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) was formed in 1978 for the express purpose of assisting its members to perform their duties in a professional manner. We believe only carefully selected and properly trained animal control personnel can correct community problems resulting from irresponsible animal ownership. NACA’s purpose is to preserve the Human/Animal Bond by insisting on responsible animal ownership. \n  \n  \nThis webinar was pre-approved for 1 CEU credit by the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP)® and the DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification Program (D-SAACP).  Founded in 1975\, the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) is the oldest national victim assistance organization of its type in the United States and is the recognized leader in victim advocacy\, education and credentialing.  To learn more about NOVA\, visit trynova.org. \n  \n\n  \n\n\n\nPresenters: \n \nKatie Campbell is the Outreach Manager for RedRover and has worked with nonprofits for 10-plus years. During this time she has worked with diverse communities across racial\, ethnic\, and economic lines in positions ranging from front line service to management roles.  She has worked closely with survivors of domestic violence\, as well as other individuals at risk\, and with many nonprofits serving these communities. Katie is a firm believer that more can be accomplished when organizations work together and with the community rather than in silos. \nKatie’s educational background includes an M.A. in Sociology from Sacramento State University\, which she credits with furthering her passion for listening and learning from others.  Her work at RedRover brings together two of her greatest passions: working with people and supporting the welfare of animals. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://www.justiceclearinghouse.com/webinar/pet-friendly-domestic-violence-shelters-creating-a-pet-friendly-program-that-works-for-your-community/
