SUMMARY:Webinar - 6/24/21 - Behavior Skill-Building: Communicating With Canines - Texas Unites (fee applies)
DESCRIPTION:So much of getting the best from a dog pivots upon one particular concept – communication – and the best of communication follows two Golden Rules (Reward what you want and STOP rewarding what you don’t want!). It also honors the “Five C’s” (calm\, clear\, confident\, consistent and canine-intuitive). Beyond that\, body language is the name of the game. Dogs express themselves clearly through postures\, positions\, movement and energy. They read our posture and the positions we take\, plus how we move and the energy we project\, and they interpret them in the unique context of their species (not ours). With dogs\, it is not so much what you say but how you say it. \nNot getting the response you want from certain dogs? A simple change of posture or position may be all you need. Want to bring out a dog’s most calm focus and “follow-ship?” Well-timed genuine smiles and canine-intuitive movement promotes both. Following common canine social cues is also important\, and shelter personnel and rescue volunteers who know them are in a good position to bring out the best in their dogs. \nPresenter \nLynne V. Swanson\, DVM – Behavior Coordinator for Safe Harbor Farm K9 Rescue & Rehab \nConnect to this webinar on Your Conference Connection Page.  *Password required*\nPassword is provided with registration confirmation. \n***** \nLike this topic?  Register Today! \nYour $49 registration fee provides access to all webinars May 19 through July 1. \nAll sessions are CE approved through DSHS and AAWA with selected sessions approved through TBVME.  This session is approved for DVM and LVT CE through TBVME. \nRegistration will remain open throughout the Virtual Learning Series.
