SUMMARY:Webinar - 9/22/21 - How to Build a Year-End Social Media Plan that Gets Results - Network for Good
DESCRIPTION:The end of the year is swiftly approaching. You know what that means — giving season is almost here! So we ask the question\, is your social media year-end ready? \n\nRoughly seven-in-ten Americans use some kind of social media platform and about 30% of nonprofit website traffic comes from social media. And nearly one third (31%) of annual giving occurs in December. That’s why social media must be part of your year-end fundraising strategy. \nWith the focus often being on direct mail appeals at year-end\, where does social media fit in? How can nonprofits cut through the year-end clutter\, engage their donors\, and raise more money – all without tech overwhelm or added stress? \nIn this webinar\, digital fundraising expert Julia Campbell will show you her tried-and-true methods for creating a year-end social media plan that gets results and helps you achieve your year-end fundraising goals! \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://www.networkforgood.com/resource/year-end-social-media-plan/

SUMMARY:Webinar - 9/22/21 - Spay/Neuter: Integral to Access to Care - The AAWA
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to the relationship between wellness care and spay/neuter services\, in most instances the answer is AND not OR. This webinar will describe how spay/neuter outreach led to a realization that many pets are going unserved by traditional veterinary models. \nThere are still pockets of urgent need where spay/neuter is critical for lifesaving.  However even in areas where pet populations are more in balance\, we continue to need spay/neuter to maintain that balance. We will describe the categories of animals best served by the high volume high quality spay/neuter model (HQHVSN). \nFinally\, we will discuss several models to demonstrate how spay/neuter clinics provide access to veterinary care. While spay/neuter clinics should focus on what they do best for maximum efficiency\, as a wider community\, we have an obligation to support cradle-to-grave-care for all pets. Spay/neuter clinics should work within a network of providers within each community to bridge gaps and overcome barriers to care. Strategies for tackling this work and presenting it to funders will be described. \nPresenters: \n\nDr. Phil Bushby\, Professor\, Marcia Lane Endowed Chair of Humane Ethics and Animal Welfare\, Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine\nEmily McCobb\, DVM\, MS\, DACVAA\, Director\, Tufts Shelter Medicine Program & the Luke and Lily Lerner Spay Neuter Clinic at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine\, Tufts University\nAimee St. Arnaud\, Business Partner\, Open Door Veterinary Support\n\nThis session is part of the Shelter Medicine series\, a collaboration between the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement. \nThis live and recorded program is pending approved for: \n\n1 Certified Animal Welfare Administrator continuing education credit\n1 hour of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize RACE\n\n50 minutes of the live session / watch 50 minutes of the recording in order to receive the 1-hour credit of RACE CE. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://learning.theaawa.org/products/92221-spayneuter-integral-to-access-to-care

SUMMARY:Webinar - 9/23/21 - Changing Behavior by Arranging Antecedents with Kathy Sdao - Dog iBox (fee applies)
DESCRIPTION:Professional animal trainers and behavior consultants sometimes overlook or undervalue Level 2 (Antecedent Arrangements) of the Humane Hierarchy. This six-level progression of behavior-change procedures\, arranged so that the least intrusive\, most positive interventions come first\, was first elucidated by Dr. Susan Friedman in 2010. (See What’s Wrong With This Picture? Effectiveness is Not Enough) It informs the core ethical commitment of several professional animal-training organizations (e.g.\, IAABC\, CCPDT). Yet we may be tempted to “skip ahead” to familiar operant training procedures such as positive reinforcement (Level 3) & differential reinforcement of alternative behaviors (Level 4). Antecedent arrangements (Level 2) suggest we notice and adjust the animal’s environment in ways that facilitate the behaviors we wish to reinforce. It invites us to be creative in changing conditions that precede these behaviors\, with the goal of making learning more effective and efficient. Note that Level 2 is much broader than simply “managing the environment” to prevent problem behaviors from occurring. We’ll look at many specific examples of antecedent arrangements drawn from Kathy’s work with her behavior-consultation clients. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://www.dog-ibox.com/market/catalog/live-webinars/live-webinars-english-c-34/changing-behavior.html

SUMMARY:Webinar - 9/23/21 - Jessica Hekman\, PhD - Stressed Out: Dogs\, Hormones\, and Stress - FDSA (fee applies)
DESCRIPTION:What happens in your dog’s brain and body when something scares her? How long can you expect her stress response to last? In this webinar\, Jessica Hekman\, DVM\, PhD\, will talk about the stress response in dogs. She will explain the original evolutionary purpose of the stress response; what the hormones involved in it (like cortisol) do in the body; the difference between acute and chronic stress and the different effects the have on dogs’ health; and what we know about how long it takes the body to clear those hormones. You will definitely learn some cool stuff about how the brain works and what that means for your dog’s ability to focus through the stress of something like a trial environment! \nFee: $19.95 – Registration required PRIOR to scheduled presentation time. \nPlease note: This webinar is back by popular demand.
