SUMMARY:Webinar - 12/9/22 - Premedication\, Setting the Scene for Smooth Anesthesia - Think Anesthesia
DESCRIPTION:Register for this month’s live webinar Think Anesthesia: Premedication\, Setting the Scene for Smooth Anesthesia presented by Karen Kerr\, BA\, BVSc (Hons)\, MANZCVS (Anesthesia & Analgesia). Medications administered prior to anesthetic induction influence the ensuing anesthetic event and affect the patient’s overall experience. Premedication offers veterinary professionals an opportunity to minimize patient stress\, pre-emptively reduce pain\, and improve the likelihood of a smooth anesthetic induction\, maintenance\, and recovery. Veterinary professionals may use different medications and strategies based on the individual needs of the patient to reduce the risk of complications and optimize their anesthetic procedure. This presentation provides a goal-directed approach to developing a framework for anesthetic premedication in dogs and cats\, with case-based examples to reinforce appropriate variations. This presentation is worth 1 hour of RACE (pending) CE for veterinary technicians and veterinarians. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://www.thinkanesthesia.education/live-webinar/2022/11/think-anesthesia-premedication-setting-the-scene-for-smooth-anesthesia

SUMMARY:Webinar - 12/14/22 - For Dog's sake\, can you stop that? Canine-Friendly Body Language Improvements for Humans - Dogs Playing for Life
DESCRIPTION:Dogs are resilient and oh-so-forgiving! These qualities make them endearing as companions\, along with their ability to love unconditionally. So\, why do some dogs struggle to understand us when we are offering affection or when we want to help them\, not harm them? In this session\, we will focus on the HUMAN handling that contributes to unwanted behavior\, even “aggression”. Get ready to rethink your approach as we reveal the common and widely accepted and taught handling errors that set dogs up for failure. Through extensive video examples\, we will demonstrate alternative handling techniques that help dogs to trust and thrive! \n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar will demonstrate: \n– Examples of handling that causes negative behavior compared to handling that promotes  desired behavior \n– Demonstration of handling that induces trust and learning with dogs that are too afraid to respond initially to food rewards or affection \n– Comprehensive discussion around the correct use of pressure and release and why this is a critical skill for shelter canine handlers to master to save more dogs \nThis is a 2-hour presentation followed by a Q&A session. This webinar will NOT be recorded and is scheduled at EASTERN TIME. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_gx8OBPK3S4-pkOYgtxNSew
