SUMMARY:Weekly Call - Monday Mornings - Connect With Other Animal Shelter Professionals - Maddie's Fund
DESCRIPTION:Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic\, animal shelter workers\, volunteers and animal welfare leaders from across the country have been meeting every Monday morning at 7am PT/10am ET to discuss protocols\, ideas\, obstacles they’re facing and more.     \nNEW TIME as of 9/23/20 – 8 AM PT\, 11 AM ET. \nLed by Kristen Hassen-Auerbach\, Director of Pima Animal Care in Tucson\, AZ\, these calls have provided an opportunity for people to connect that otherwise may not have even met.    \n“The purpose of these calls is simple – maintain connection among shelter professionals\, provide support and comradery\, and share science-based news and information along with emerging best practices in animal welfare\,” Hassen-Auerbach says. “These calls are always lively and interesting and we’re not afraid to debate and share different perspectives from the attendees. You can take center stage and share your thoughts and ideas in front of several hundred of your colleagues or quietly drink your morning coffee and listen in.”  \nFor many\, these calls have been an invaluable resource. “When the subject of DEI (Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion) came to the front of all of our minds\, the calls adapted and we had a space to again learn from one another\,” said Emily Klehm from South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights\, IL. “The calls have been my go-to source for grant information\, statistics and trends. I’ve also been able to identify and connect to colleagues working on the same issues in similar communities.”  \nDr. Ellen Jefferson\, Executive Director at Austin Pets Alive! adds\, “We hear from people in the industry who have important information related to COVID\, new programming and research.  This is information you can’t possibly get in your day to day work at your local shelter.”  \nIf you’re a shelter professional\, dedicated volunteer or run a rescue organization\, we want you to join us! Bookmark the link below and we will see you on Monday! \nNote: The calls are recorded so if you can’t make it\, you can listen in later. If you haven’t already\, join the Facebook group to access the link to recorded calls and to connect with others on there. \nMONDAYS:  8:00 AM to 9:00 AM PT – new time \nJoin Zoom Meeting (same link as before)https://us02web.zoom.us/j/607482466?pwd=dWgwUDhUeVMzb01FcHNkc3dsUGlGUT09\n\nNEW Passcode: 249477\n\nMeeting ID: 607 482 466\n\nOne tap mobile+16699006833\,\,607482466#\,\,\,\,\,\,0#\,\,249477# US (San Jose)+12532158782\,\,607482466#\,\,\,\,\,\,0#\,\,249477# US (Tacoma)Dial by your location    +1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose)    +1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma)    +1 346 248 7799 US (Houston)    +1 646 558 8656 US (New York)    +1 301 715 8592 US (Germantown)    +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago)Meeting ID: 607 482 466Passcode: 249477Find your local number: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/kfjtq4DTY\n\nMEETING LINK:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/607482466?pwd=dWgwUDhUeVMzb01FcHNkc3dsUGlGUT09

SUMMARY:Webinar - 9/10/20 - Zoonoses\, disasters\, and veterinarians…oh my! - Virox
DESCRIPTION:WEBINAR: Zoonoses\, disasters\, and veterinarians…oh my! \n\nEmerging pathogens are center stage these days\, but that doesn’t mean that this pandemic is raging on in a vacuum.  Hurricane season started June 1 and the Atlantic is just heading into the peak time for storms.  What happens if we have a hurricane during a pandemic?  What if the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is joined by that recently isolated novel influenza in…China?  In these types of crises\, veterinarians are integral – but do you know what to do?  Or more importantly\, not do?  What to expect?  How to disinfect?  Join me for a lively exploration of emerging diseases\, disasters\, and what to do when…especially to prevent further disease transmission.\n\n\n\n  \nDr. Jenifer Chatfield is the board-certified Staff Veterinarian at 4J Conservation Center and the Chief Strategy Officer for Vet Candy\, LLC. Dr. Chatfield is a diplomate of both the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM) and the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM). Along with her twin brother\, \nDr. Jason Chatfield\, she co-hosts the #1 veterinary podcast\, Vet Candy’s “In other news…” and was recently profiled in Pet Vet magazine. Dr. Chatfield is a Medical Reserve Corps member and developed the “Veterinary Support to Zoological Animals in a Disaster” for the National Veterinary Response Team’s (NVRT) training curriculum. Dr. Chatfield has chaired the Florida Veterinary Medical Association’s (FVMA) One Health Committee and co-chaired FVMA’s Disaster Response Committee. Dr. Chatfield has a particular interest in infectious diseases and biosecurity and her work for the Dept. of Homeland Security’s courses has been focused on topics such as foreign animal diseases\, quarantine and isolation\, and malicious introduction of pathogens. Dr. Chatfield loves French bulldogs\, Himalayan cats\, the dirtiest of vodka martinis\, and basking on Caribbean beaches. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister TODAY: https://hubs.ly/H0tmPkx0
