Self-awareness\, personal accountability\, and relationship cultivation have been foundational as Jose navigates his career and life outside of work. At his first job with one of the largest animal shelters in the Arizona\, Jose learned the importance of developing emotional intelligence\, communication\, and people skills to build meaningful relationships that inspire and motivate people to work better together. In 2017\, after a decade of working to transform that organization\, Jose joined Best Friends Animal Society\, a national nonprofit organization where he served as the first Senior Director of People and Culture. \nAt Best Friends\, Jose was responsible for leading dynamic teams\, including Human Resources\, Learning and Staff Development\, Employee Experience\, and Organizational Culture initiatives\, and served as a strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team. Through collaboration\, change\, and innovative management\, Jose and his team stewarded a workplace culture that was employee- and value-centric. These efforts positioned Best Friends to win multiple Top Workplace Awards since 2020. \nIn 2023\, Jose launched Hatching\, a company centered around helping people #LiveBetter and #WorkBetter. Hatching’s vision is to create a more peaceful world by helping people live with more compassion\, gratitude\, and self-worth.  The goal of Hatching is to help people and organizations leverage their unique experiences and potential to make the workplace an environment where people can thrive. Jose believes that\, together\, we will make the world a better place by leading with intention\, authenticity\, and personal accountability. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYrc-yrqTwoEtUp4AzxOVdkbn59y7qpspQm#/registration

SUMMARY:Webinar - 9/21/23 - Animal Shelter Safety: Proven Strategies to Reduce Serious Bites and Other Risks -CalAnimals
DESCRIPTION:When shelters are full\, they’re at higher risk of safety-related incidents including falls\, serious bites\, and dog-to-dog altercations. Shelters often respond to safety incidents by increasing euthanasia\, restricting animal movement\, or introducing reactive rules and policies. Unfortunately\, these measures do not address the underlying problems causing safety incidents\, so they’re unlikely to be effective over the medium and long term. \nThe good news is there are lots of proactive steps animal shelters can take to improve safety and reduce risk. In this session\, we’ll use real-life examples of dog bites\, injuries\, and other safety incidents to explore the roots of what went wrong and what corrective actions will help. We’ll specifically cover: \n• The role of shelter rounds in maintaining and improving shelter safety\n• Kennel safety/fight interruption equipment and maintenance\n• Kennel enrichment to improve safety\n• Quick and easy safety training for staff and volunteers\n• Pre-contact disclosure protocol for staff and volunteers\n• Locks vs. carabiners: which one is actually safer?\n• The risks and benefits of cohousing dogs \nThis session is fast-paced and interactive and will leave attendees feeling empowered to create a culture of safety in their organization. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_yICttaVdT66PKJIc5ez0Vg

SUMMARY:Webinar - 9/21/23 - Threshold: Is It What You Think It Is? - FDSA (fee applies)
DESCRIPTION:We all say things like “my dog is over threshold” or “keep him under threshold\,” but do you really know what that means? We all know that being under threshold is best if we want stress reduction and good learning to take place\, yet everyone has a different definition of threshold for their dog. \nDo you want your dog to feel better emotionally and be in a good learning space mentally? Come examine the idea of threshold\, how you can best determine it for your dog\, and how getting it right can really accelerate the reduction of stress in your dog! \nPresenter: Amy Cook\, PhD \nNote: This webinar is back by popular demand! Since it last ran in 2018\, it will be re-recorded and updated for this event! However\, you may wish to check your webinar library before purchasing. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://www.fenzidogsportsacademy.com/index.php/self-study/webinars
