SUMMARY:Webinar - 3/26/26 - Bridging the gap: Shelters and wildlife coexistence - Humane World for Animals
DESCRIPTION:Through Humane World’s Wild Neighbors program\, we work with animal care and control partners to incorporate wildlife into their mission of animal protection. Animal control facilities are increasingly tasked with responding to wildlife issues in their community\, but standard operating procedures often stand in the way of achieving humane outcomes for wildlife. \nThis discussion will combine what we already know with what we are learning from our partners to provide shelters with more resources for staff and the public on humanely solving conflicts with wildlife. The benefits include programs and frameworks for humane outcomes for wildlife in your community\, a reduced workload for officers in the field\, and a greater awareness in the community about how to solve problems with wildlife. \nPresenter: Grace Kahler\, Program Manager\, Wildlife Protection\, Humane World for Animals \nPhoto by Wendy J Keefover/Humane World for Animals \nWEBSITE LINK: https://humanepro.org/trainings/bridging-gap-shelters-and-wildlife-coexistence

SUMMARY:Online Event - 3/26/26 - Maddie's Monthly Behavior Connection - Beyond our Safety Net: Navigating Returns\, Risk and Humane Outcomes in Dog Adoptions - Maddie's Fund
DESCRIPTION:This session will explore the complex realities of accepting adoption returns for dogs exhibiting challenging or dangerous behavior. While our goal is always to keep adopted animals in homes\, there are times when a return is requested and the shelter environment may not be in the dog’s best interest—or safe for staff and volunteers. We’ll walk through how to guide adopters through private rehoming when appropriate\, the questions we ask before accepting a behaviorally complex return\, and how we incorporate professional assessments into our decision-making. \nThe session will also cover how we provide compassionate support and clear guidance when behavioral euthanasia is the most humane option. Finally\, we’ll examine how to communicate transparently with staff\, fosters\, and volunteers while centering safety\, quality of life\, and organizational sustainability. \nKey Takeaways: \n\nLearn how to assess behavioral risk while balancing animal welfare\, public safety\, and\nstaff/volunteer well-being.\nUnderstand how to navigate difficult conversations about return\, risk\, and humane\neuthanasia with clarity and empathy.\nGain tools for fostering internal alignment and supporting emotionally invested team\nmembers through hard decisions.\n\nGuest Speaker: Stacy Price\, COO at One Tail at a Time \nAbout Maddie’s Monthly Behavior Connection:\nJoin us on the fourth Thursday of every month as we talk about dog and cat behavior – supporting pets in our community and animal shelters. Each month\, we hear from speakers about topics of interest to our group\, such as behavior medications\, modifying animal behavior\, assessing and improving animal welfare\, and how organizations successfully provide behavior support to dogs and cats. \nWho should join: Animal welfare staff and volunteers who are interested in dog and cat behavior\, and everyone who works to keep pets out of shelters and in homes. \nYou only need to register once for all meetings: https://maddies.fund/MonthlyBehaviorRegistration \nCan’t attend live? Register anyway and you will get a link to the recording within a day or two after each meeting. \nAll recordings and resources shared during the webcast will also be available in the Maddie’s Monthly Behavior Connection group on Maddie’s Pet Forum – https://maddies.fund/monthlybehaviorconnectionMPF \nMaddie’s Fund does not share registration information. \nThe opinions expressed by webinar presenters are their own and do not necessarily represent those of Maddie’s Fund. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://maddies.fund/MonthlyBehaviorRegistration

SUMMARY:Webinar - 3/26/26 - Learn What the Monster Likes… and Feed It! Bridging the Animal Rights/Welfare/Control Gap by Focusing on The Link between Animal Abuse and Human Violence - NACA/Justice Clearinghouse
DESCRIPTION:Is your organization rooted in animal rights\, animal welfare\, or animal control? In the eyes of many government officials and funders\, it doesn’t matter—because animal issues often take a back seat to public safety concerns. What does get their attention is the human impact. By demonstrating The Link between animal abuse and human violence\, you can shift the conversation—and the priorities. \nThis webinar introduces the critical connections between animal cruelty and domestic violence\, child maltreatment\, and elder abuse. You’ll learn how to leverage these connections to increase public recognition\, attract new funding\, and elevate your organization’s relevance in broader conversations about safety and well-being. \nThis webinar has been certified by the National Animal Care & Control Association and is approved for 1 Continuing Education Unit. Please refer to your NACA membership portal for current CEU submission process. Current NACA Members who attend the live presentation or watch the recording will be able to download a jointly issued attendance certificate that includes the National Animal Care & Control Association logo. Visit the NACA training page for a complete list of future trainings. \nWEBSITE LINK:  https://www.justiceclearinghouse.com/webinar/learn-what-the-monster-likes-and-feed-it-bridging-the-animal-rights-welfare-control-gap-by-focusing-on-the-link-between-animal-abuse-and-human-violence/
