This calendar is a listing of webinars, other learning opportunities, online meetings and other upcoming national events related to animal sheltering and related areas of interest.

Only some of these events are produced by the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. Most are being created and sponsored by other groups and agencies.  Being listed here does not mean that we have reviewed the material contained.  We are trying to provide a variety of resources to hopefully help make your life a little easier.  For additional information on any of these items before or after the event please contact the organizer directly (listed in the item description).

Online Conference – 3/29/22 to 3/30/22 – Big Dog Master Class – Maddie’s® Million Pet Challenge and HASS

March 30, 2022 @ 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM PDT

Free

Times are tough for shelter dogs. We can help. The newly launched Maddie’s® Million Pet Challenge and Human Animal Support Services are teaming to bring you a completely FREE, two-day virtual conference to tackle your biggest challenges surrounding big dogs. We’ve got proven solutions and data-driven protocols delivered to you in straightforward, streamlined modules for all levels of animal shelter professionals. We want your organizations to be supported as you learn better dog management, getting more live outcomes, shortening lengths of stay, and creating safer shelters.

We designed every session around what you told us you need the most. Session topics include: research on shelter dog behavior, big dog foster management, should you be doing behavior evaluations?, lifesaving protocol for at-risk dogs, making euthanasia decisions, a case management approach for ‘long stay’ dogs, do’s and don’ts of dog volunteer programs, marketing big dogs the easy way, managing risk and public safety, managing big dog space crises, and practicing a trauma-informed approach to shelter dogs.

This free, virtual conference opportunity is made possible by support from Maddie’s Fund® and organized by the Maddie’s® Million Pet Challenge and Human Animal Support Services.

This conference has been pre-approved for 8 hours of Certified Animal Welfare Administrator continuing education credit by The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement and National Animal Care & Control Association. This program has been submitted (but is not yet approved) for 8 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions which recognize RACE approval.
