California: Telemedicine, law and policy
Hello CASCARarians,
Just a quick reminder that tomorrow’s CASCAR meeting is an exciting one that many of us have been waiting for!
If you are a California shelter that has ever wanted to explore telemedicine but you’re not sure whether it’s even legally permitted, you’re not going to want to miss tomorrow’s webinar brought to you by the two CA-licensed animal law attorneys behind California’s new shelter policy and legal services program, Shelter PALS.
In one short hour, Brandy Kuentzel, SF SPCA General Counsel, and Bruce Wagman, leader of an exclusive animal law practice in a major US firm, will guide us through:
· Determining whether a veterinarian can legally engage in telemedicine for animals at a CA shelter, or who are in foster programs under a shelter program.
· If so, discuss under what circumstances veterinary telemedicine may be legally appropriate for shelter animals in CA.
· Gain a basic understanding of CA law and walk through real-world examples to facilitate learning.
· Learn more about a new program at the San Francisco SPCA, Shelter Policy and Legal Services (Shelter PALS), and how CA shelters can apply for free 1:1 legal support through Shelter PALS to explore possible implementation at your own shelter.
Note that all are welcome, but this webinar is specifically tailored to CA shelters (public, private and hybrid) and will address CA law only.
We will be gathering in our usual Zoom room at: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJQtdO-srDItyMz7xy-ZsncbcFa6s8kKZg.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
See you in the morning!
