Today we will be hosting National Rounds at 3pm CST with UW Shelter Medicine Program’s Clinical Instructor Dr. Uri Donnett. We will discuss the changes in veterinary student clinical shelter medicine training with schools and shelters responding to COVID. Uri will present on the conversion of a two week in shelter clinical rotation to a two week online clinical course for 4th year students and the progression to a future hybrid in-person/online course. We will discuss some of the considerations, challenges, and things that seem to have worked. We welcome anyone who has been hosting students on rotation to share their experiences as well or come prepared with questions or discussion points. We will record today’s rounds.

COVID-19 Rounds info:
We will be more regularly offering National Shelter Medicine Rounds short term to discuss COVID-19 impacts on shelter medicine on Tuesdays from 3-4pm CT (1pmPT/2pmMT/4pmET) and Thursdays from 2-3pm CT (12pmPT/1pmMT/3pmET). You are welcome to email questions or topics you hope to be discussed during rounds in advance to nationalsheltermedicinerounds@vetmed.wisc.edu and you are always encouraged to come prepared to unmute to ask questions and participate in discussion at any point. I will be sending email reminders of upcoming rounds in advance as well as sharing recordings after the fact.
This group is made up of shelter veterinarians, shelter vet trainees, and upper level shelter leadership. If you know anyone that would like to be added to the national shelter medicine rounds email list to regularly receive scheduling updates and recordings moving forward, please have them email a request to be added to the email group to nationalsheltermedicinerounds@vetmed.wisc.edu.

National Shelter Medicine Rounds generally take place every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 3:00-4:00pm CST with some cancellations for holidays and special events.
