Cats present a unique diagnostic challenge as not only can their symptoms be subtle, but baseline diagnostics all too frequently give nonspecific results. An elevated body temperature can be an important clue when combined with the history, physical exam, and screening tests. In this lecture we will explore the reasons underlying an elevated body temperature, discuss broad differential categories, and use this information to refine the optimal diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
