What to expect during those golden years – a focus on cognitive health and dysfunction in the senior dog and cat

Time waits for no one and as any individual ages, the body and mind undergoes degeneration. During this webinar we will explore the most reported health changes that occur in our aging pets from a medical and cognitive aspect. A review of the neurophysiological causes of cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) will be reviewed and considerations for treatment and prevention. The aim is to help caretakers anticipate and care for the health of senior pets and identify clinical signs of CDS.

Dr. Lena Provoost currently works at Penn Vet in Philadelphia, PA as a clinician and lecturer in Small Animal Behavior & Welfare. She enjoys educating students, her clients, and treating companion animals afflicted with anxieties, fears, and frustrations. Her major interests include all aspects of cognition, effects and management of pain on behavior, behavioral genetics, and the human animal bond. Dr. Provoost admits that most of her spare time is spent running after her two young sons, but enjoys every minute of it.
