The AAWA and NEFHS Present: The NEFHS has served as a platform to discuss important issues impacting New England and the field of animal welfare for decades. Despite our track record of tackling difficult issues, this will be our first to facilitate a conversation that addresses the lack of People of Color (POC) within our field. This webinar series will also address the disproportionate, negative impact many organizational, local, and state animal welfare policies and practices have on POC. The NEFHS Board acknowledges the need for continued evaluation and learning for all of us, our Board included. It is important to prioritize this issue throughout the year, every year, until systemic racism no longer exists. The NEFHS is committed to providing resources to help you through this journey, through this webinar series and at our Annual Conference to keep us all moving forward. This series is open to all animal welfare employees and/or volunteers, which includes aimal shelters, animal control and rescues of all sizes.

Winn Feline Foundation Presents: In this presentation we will talk about our Winn Feline Foundation sponsored studies investigating gastrointestinal disease in fostered shelter kittens. Topics ranging from the search for infectious causes for diarrhea in this population to pursuit and discovery of treatment interventions associated with survival of fostered shelter kittens with diarrhea will be covered. Best Friends Presents: Join Best Friends’ own Trish Tolbert for a discussion about how our brand new FREE Fundraising Fundamentals course might benefit you. Our panelists are three early adopters who will share what they learned through the course and how they’re applying it in their own organizations.

FDSA Presents (fee applies): This webinar will go into detail about several of the myths and perceived barriers that exist surrounding the ability to be successful with a separation anxiety protocol. Understanding the separation anxiety process better through this webinar will open up doors, and further busting some myths will help us elevate separation anxiety training to the status it deserves. The AAWA and Petfinder Pro Present: This year has been unpredictable in many ways, but as we move towards the end of 2020 we can look ahead to how lessons and insights gleaned during a global crisis may help us shape a brighter future for animals. This presentation will cover some key marketing takeaways from our collective COVID-19 response, shining a light on practical examples and ideas to help us better connect with all facets of our communities; leverage the power of teamwork and information sharing; and craft a strategic approach that means we can handle whatever comes next! 

The AAWA Presents: We will explore the role psychoactive medications can play in the management of shelter animals’ behavior issues. Adopting out animals that are taking psychoactive medication can be challenging as potential adopters often have preconceptions. Shelter staff, including veterinarians, need to be prepared to navigate such adoption counseling conversations to make the right match.  Learn how to help adopters understand the full situation and their role in a successful outcome. Medication monitoring in the shelter and post-adoption support will also be discussed. This presentation is suited for veterinary, shelter, rescue, and animal behavior professionals.

How, in this shifting environment, can we create a plan for end of year giving and engagement?

Dog iBox Presents (fee applies): This presentation will focus on those dogs that are easily over-stimulated by sensory information, tend to over-react to their surroundings, and have a difficult time recovering or returning to a normal resting level of arousal. Information specific to the underlying neurological basis for this pattern, strategies for impacting the development of impulse control and arousal regulation throughout development, as well as behavior modification and medication intervention strategies will be addressed and discussed.
