    The National Kitten Coalition Veterinary Conference is a kitten-focused, virtual event intended for veterinarians, veterinary technicians/nurses, those currently enrolled in veterinary or veterinary technician schools, veterinary staff members in private practices and shelters, and those involved in veterinary education and research.

    This one-day conference will include sessions on kitten hospitalization, spay/neuter techniques, upper respiratory tract infections, diarrhea, kitten toxicities, fetal and neonatal mortality, and more! Explore the full conference lineup here.

    Since this is a virtual event, you’ll have an opportunity to gain valuable insights and to have your questions answered by some of the most knowledgeable veterinary experts —without having to travel. Registration includes access to on-demand recordings of the sessions after the October 20, 2024 conference date.

    The National Kitten Coalition is an American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) approved provider for RACE® CE. This conference program (AAVBS Course Number: 20-1194430) has been approved by the AAVSB for 6.5 credits of live, interactive RACE® CE for veterinarians and veterinary technicians/nurses in jurisdictions that recognize RACE® approval.

    The 2024 National Kitten Coalition Veterinary Conference will be recorded.     Disasters can affect anyone. Before the disaster hits, it is vital to prepare to care for your family, pets, fosters, and shelter animals during and after an emergency.

    This session will offer participants a brief overview of emergency planning and response for animal shelters, rescue groups, and foster parents, with a focus on considerations for kittens. It will cover common emergencies to prepare for, information on creating an emergency plan for shelters and foster homes in advance of a crisis, and agencies and organizations that can help with the process. We will also touch on the concept of community animal response teams and how you can join or create a team within your community.

    Registration is now open for Behavior and Enrichment Academy & Resources (BEAR), an innovative new educational program created by Shelter Playgroup Alliance and San Diego Humane Society. Sign up today for the Spring 2024 cohort beginning Feb. 1!

    At the end of this rigorous, multi-phase educational program, participants will be prepared to perform the key tasks of a shelter behavior professional. The BEAR program includes four distinct online phases and three corresponding in-person workshops at San Diego Humane Society in San Diego, California. Consisting of approximately 200 hours of learning, the entire curriculum can be completed in as little as two years!

    The BEAR program is designed to prepare current shelter staff and volunteers to transition to behavior-focused roles, and private trainers to transition to a shelter environment. It can also benefit animal welfare professionals who want to incorporate behavior-related tasks into their existing roles, including veterinary staff who want to bring low stress and/or fear free handling into their practice.
