Fear Free and Virox Present: COVID has forced change in veterinary practice more dramatically and faster than anything in our memories or experience. Telemedicine seemed so far off and now most of us are using it in some capacity. Some of us dreamed of just seeing pets without their people, and those dreams have come true! All joking aside, we can now see how pets respond when mom and dad aren’t in the building with them. We’re discovering new efficiencies we never thought possible. In this webinar you’ll learn how to be forward thinking, creative, adaptive, compassionate, efficient, and healthy (physically and emotionally) while delivering the kind of veterinary care that will have pet parents coming in more often and referring others to taste for themselves. Welcome to “business as unusual” or “returning to business as abnormal” as we embrace the change thrust upon us and harness it for growth.

He will explore the challenges and protocols he followed in working with four dogs rescued from Chicago area shelters. Three of the dogs were severely reactive, one was a trained fighting dog, and all had a bite history. The protocol followed was an introduction protocol, not an aggression treatment protocol. Although the project resulted in a significant reduction in aggression, the protocol was designed to teach animals how to live together and how to cohabitate. Ken will share the details of the protocol and share the steps he used to teach the dogs to work cooperatively and live together.

This seminar will discuss how specialized animal crimes units, law enforcement and prosecutors’ offices and veterinary forensics teams are responding to animal abuse to also prevent domestic, elder, and child abuse.

At the same time, pet owners have discovered the sport of canine nose work and are enjoying the benefits of this engaging and stimulating activity. There is much we do not know about the canine olfaction system and what factors may influence a dog’s ability to perform scent work appropriately.
