VDOS Presents (fee applies): This webinar will focus on the two most frustrating dental and oral conditions in cats, namely tooth resorption and stomatitis. The potential causes of these conditions will be discussed. Tips and tricks how to extract resorbing teeth will be shared, and various treatment options (medical and surgical) for feline stomatitis will be reviewed.

Want to know how to help undersocialized kittens get adopted? Join us as we cover how the ASPCA Adoption Center and Kitten Nursery have leveraged their foster volunteer pool and trained them to work with fearful kittens using scientifically proven techniques. This webinar will take a deep dive into the “Lion Tamers” program with a spotlight on behavior best practices. We will also provide tools and resources for how to provide training, support and guidance to foster volunteers.
Webinar – 8/5/20 – Closed and Open Tooth Extraction – VDOS (fee applies)
VDOS Presents (fee applies): This webinar will review the indications, biomechanics, equipment/instrument/material needs, and techniques of tooth extraction in dogs and cats. Closed and open techniques will be described step-by-step, including the creation of flaps in one jaw quadrant and the use of high-speed tools for sectioning of teeth and removal of alveolar bone. Tips will be shared on how to make tension-free flaps for wound closure. Complications of tooth extraction and their management will be discussed.

HSVMA Presents – for HSVMA Members (membership free for DVM Students): Dr. Melissa Shapiro will share her story about her dog, Piglet, who was rescued from a hoarding situation. Due to irresponsible breeding, Piglet was born blind and deaf but thrives despite his disabilities. Dr. Shapiro and Piglet educate the public about the importance of spay/neuter and encourage adoption of special needs animals. Attendees will learn about the challenges of working with profoundly disabled dogs and how to educate clients about their needs.
