National Kitten Coalition Presents: What do you do when you find a kitten that has been found outside exposed to the elements? What issues do you need to address immediately before you ever offer a kitten a bottle? In this free webinar from The National Kitten Coalition, we’ll discuss how to recognize hypo- and hyperthermia, hypoglycemia, dehydration and more, and get you the information you need to start intervening for your kitten right away.
Webinar – 2/15/21 – MAC 2021 Webinar Series: Compassion Fatigue in Animal Welfare – Massachusetts Animal Coalition
Massachusetts Animal Coalition Presents: The nature of animal work means that we are susceptible to compassion fatigue. This includes the moral stress that is an unavoidable part of this work. And trauma – both personal and occupational – can play a role in how we react to stressful situations. It helps to understand what compassion fatigue is and how it can creep into our daily work. Each attendee should come out of this presentation with a better understanding of his/herself and his/her role at the shelter and in the larger animal welfare community. Specific tools will be provided for creating a plan for working toward balance and emotional health in a very difficult field. There will be a 15-minute Q&A discussion at the end.

Webinar – 2/20/21 – An Introduction to Fear-based Behaviors Across Species: Dogs, Horses, Cats, Birds – Training Matters (fee applies)
Training Matters Presents (fee applies): We have assembled an expert group to talk about how they work with scared animals in a species with which they specialize. In this online seminar, Debbie Jacobs will talk about dogs, Michelle Martiya about horses, Katenna Jones about cats, and Emily Strong about birds. These ladies will discuss the behavioral profile of the fearful animals they often see, that is the behaviors they exhibit and their typical history. The presenters will then talk about how they work through specific behavior challenges, highlighting what may be different about working through the situation with a dog, horse, cat or bird in terms of management, safety, reinforcement delivery, and other aspects of the training process.
