Webinar – 1/26/23 – Stranger Danger! Advocating for and Advancing Your Human-Reactive Dogs – Dogs Playing for Life

At Dogs Playing for Life’s Stranger Danger webinar, hosted by Aimee Sadler, CEO and Founder of DPFL, you will learn how to work with dogs that are wary of strangers by building their confidence and helping them develop new skills which will enable them to meet new people (and potential adopters) happily and successfully! Even for the private dog trainer or dog owner, the skills taught in this webinar will help support your stranger danger dog to expand their comfort level when meeting new people at home!

    This webinar will demonstrate:
    — DPFL’s Assess and Progress approach: fluttering between assessing and influencing behavior to determine how a dog might respond WITHOUT proper human support to determine what training is necessary for successful placement
    — Comprehensive Tool Selection: determining what tool will best support the dog while keeping the handler and others safe during the learning process
    — Principles vs. Methods: determining what approach will teach the dog as efficiently and effectively as possible
    — Creative Proofing: conducting training with the goal of solid generalization of new skills so that dogs are able to work for multiple handlers with clarity and confidence

Come learn how to safely and effectively reach this segment of the canine population through in-depth behavior analysis, dynamic video examples, and practical approaches designed for anyone who is trying to find solutions for the dogs who need this extra human support.

This is a 1.5-hour presentation followed by a Q&A session. This webinar will NOT be recorded and is scheduled on EASTERN TIME.

  • Webinar – 1/25/23 – DPFL’s Approach to On-Leash Reactivity – Dogs Playing for Life

    Webinar – 1/25/23 – DPFL’s Approach to On-Leash Reactivity – Dogs Playing for Life

Reactivity on the part of dogs living in shelters is a rampant issue that can contribute to behavioral deterioration, increased length of stay, and even loss of life. From a misdiagnosis of “aggression” to dogs whose reactive behavior escalates to problematic and potentially unsafe levels, learning how to help dogs suffering from reactivity issues is a crucial need shared by our entire industry.

While this webinar can be attended as a standalone course, we highly recommend attending our Fancy Footwork webinar first. We will build on our Fancy Footwork approach to handling and training to offer practical training, handling, and safety solutions to on-leash reactivity for dogs living in shelters.

This is a 1.5-hour presentation followed by a Q&A session of approximately 30 minutes (we’ll go longer if there are questions remaining). This webinar will NOT be recorded and is scheduled on EASTERN TIME.

This webinar holds 500 attendees, so register in advance, and show up on time the day of the webinar (we’ll open it up 15 minutes early) to be sure to get a spot!

Webinar – 1/19/23 – Suzanne Clothier – Quick – Hit PAUSE! Using Controlled Set-ups for Reactive Dogs – FDSA (fee applies)

Handlers of reactive dogs struggle to find ways to help their dogs feel less worried, overwhelmed or pushed past their thresholds. But progress can be slow, particularly if the dog continues to be triggered despite the handler’s best efforts.

As a behavior consultant, I work with many handlers who are discouraged or frustrated. In many cases, there are holes in the training plan. Inevitably, the training falls apart, the dog is triggered, the handler is embarrassed or upset. Why does this happen so often?

This webinar dives into what you need to know to help reactive dogs through carefully controlled set-ups.

    Training in the wild?
    Pause button or uncontrolled variables?
Understanding your dog’s triggers (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, social, chase)
The holy trinity of dog training: Distance, intensity & duration
Using Line of View and Field of View in the real world

If you’ve ever wished for a PAUSE button on life to help your dog, this webinar is for you. The practical information provided will help anyone create successful training moments. Find out why so many clients and their dogs have benefited from this sensible approach to thin slicing for success.
