Online Conference – 11/7/20 and 11/8/20 – Medicine Weekend – NoodleU (fee applies)

    Medicine Weekend
November 7-8, 2020 | 17 Hours of RACE APPROVED CE

When it comes to the meatball of the conference, we know that you and your veterinary staff need LIVE Continuing Education credits, and we’ve certainly done our best to provide those to you with the most relevant topics available for veterinary medicine today. Don’t worry: this is different from other conferences you’ve attended (and not just because you can watch from your bed) – we promise that learning about new medicine topics can be fun. Our speakers were chosen because they are informative and entertaining.

Our medicine speakers are familiar with engaging an audience, and with years of real life experience in the field, they can incorporate personal experience and authentic humor into sessions. It’ll be anything but boring.

We know that keeping veterinary professionals engaged with hours of content after a busy week is no small task – but, to brag on ourselves a little bit – that’s exactly what we did with NoodleU. We cannoli shake our heads at how wonderful it all turned out to be.

    Keynote Speaker: Shawn Achor

Harvard Researcher | Bestselling Author of The Happiness Advantage

    Linking Positive Brains to Performance

Most business is done under the guideline that: if you work harder, you will be more successful, and then you will be happy. This formula is scientifically backward. What over a decade of research shows is that training your brain to be positive first actually leads to greater success at work. In fact, only 25% of job success is predicted by intelligence, the rest is determined by your optimism, social support network and the ability to manage energy and stress in a positive way. Based on Shawn’s book,The Happiness Advantage (2010) and research studying top performers at Harvard, the world’s largest banks and Fortune 500 companies, Shawn explains what positive psychology is, how much we can change, and practical applications and strategies for reaping the Happiness Advantage in the midst of change and challenge.

  • Webinar – 10/21/20 – The Role of Psychopharmacology in Shelter Animal Management – The AAWA

Webinar – 10/21/20 – The Role of Psychopharmacology in Shelter Animal Management – The AAWA

The Role of Psychopharmacology in Shelter Animal Management

We will explore the role psychoactive medications can play in the management of shelter animals’ behavior issues. Adopting out animals that are taking psychoactive medication can be challenging as potential adopters often have preconceptions. Shelter staff, including veterinarians, need to be prepared to navigate such adoption counseling conversations to make the right match.  Learn how to help adopters understand the full situation and their role in a successful outcome. Medication monitoring in the shelter and post-adoption support will also be discussed. This presentation is suited for veterinary, shelter, rescue, and animal behavior professionals.

This session is part of the Shelter Medicine series, a collaboration between the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement.

This live and recorded program has been approved for:
