Senior dog lies in yard

The Dog Aging Project is an innovative and enormous initiative that brings together a community of dogs, owners, veterinarians, researchers, and volunteers to carry out the most ambitious canine health study in the world. It is a longitudinal study of aging in over 37,000 American dogs. Its work is centered on two fundamental goals:

  • understanding how genes, lifestyle, and environment influence aging; and
  • intervening to increase health span, the period of life spent free from disease.

The presentation will allow practitioners the following objectives/ skills:

  • A general understanding of what the Dog Aging Project is and how it collects data
  • Understanding of what community science is
  • Being able to define “health span”
  • Understanding of factors that were reported to be the cause of death in this population of dogs
  • Understanding of what frailty is and what affects it
  • Being able to define cachexia and sarcopenia
  • Understanding of how you can get involved and support this project

This webinar is FREE for all attendees.
1.5 hours of RACE CE credits (medical) will be available for HSVMA members only (RACE approval pending).
