NACA/Justice Clearinghouse Present: Whether responding in the field to release an animal wrongly caught, guiding someone through it over the phone, or setting an animal free after translocation, this webinar will equip you with the basic steps to follow to not only successfully release, but to reduce stress and injury to the animal as well. How you approach and release an entrapped animal can greatly impact the level of stress and potential injury they experience. This webinar will provide instruction for how to release wrongly trapped animals (both domestic and wild) from trap types that include foothold, snares, body-gripping, and box or cage style in a variety of situations and in the most humane and least stressful manner possible. This webinar will also discuss developing an awareness of how these traps work and what tools and personal protection and precautions might be necessary.

The AAWA and NEFHS Present: The NEFHS has served as a platform to discuss important issues impacting New England and the field of animal welfare for decades. Despite our track record of tackling difficult issues, this will be our first to facilitate a conversation that addresses the lack of People of Color (POC) within our field. This webinar series will also address the disproportionate, negative impact many organizational, local, and state animal welfare policies and practices have on POC. The NEFHS Board acknowledges the need for continued evaluation and learning for all of us, our Board included. It is important to prioritize this issue throughout the year, every year, until systemic racism no longer exists. The NEFHS is committed to providing resources to help you through this journey, through this webinar series and at our Annual Conference to keep us all moving forward. This series is open to all animal welfare employees and/or volunteers, which includes aimal shelters, animal control and rescues of all sizes.
