This calendar is a listing of webinars, other learning opportunities, online meetings and other upcoming national events related to animal sheltering and related areas of interest.

Only some of these events are produced by the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. Most are being created and sponsored by other groups and agencies.  Being listed here does not mean that we have reviewed the material contained.  We are trying to provide a variety of resources to hopefully help make your life a little easier.  For additional information on any of these items before or after the event please contact the organizer directly (listed in the item description).

Webinar – 10/15/20 – Lack of Diversity in Animal Welfare: Is your organization prepared to make inclusion a priority? – The AAWA and NEFHS

Virtual

The AAWA and NEFHS Present: The NEFHS has served as a platform to discuss important issues impacting New England and the field of animal welfare for decades. Despite our track record of tackling difficult issues, this will be our first to facilitate a conversation that addresses the lack of People of Color (POC) within our field. This webinar series will also address the disproportionate, negative impact many organizational, local, and state animal welfare policies and practices have on POC. The NEFHS Board acknowledges the need for continued evaluation and learning for all of us, our Board included. It is important to prioritize this issue throughout the year, every year, until systemic racism no longer exists. The NEFHS is committed to providing resources to help you through this journey, through this webinar series and at our Annual Conference to keep us all moving forward. This series is open to all animal welfare employees and/or volunteers, which includes aimal shelters, animal control and rescues of all sizes.
