This calendar is a listing of webinars, other learning opportunities, online meetings and other upcoming national events related to animal sheltering and related areas of interest.
Only some of these events are produced by the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. Most are being created and sponsored by other groups and agencies. Being listed here does not mean that we have reviewed the material contained. We are trying to provide a variety of resources to hopefully help make your life a little easier. AmPa! Presents: The AmPA! weekly Maddie's Instructor Summit offers shelters and rescues a chance to talk through the most current animal sheltering challenges! Topics will change each week. You'll join AmPA! and HASS Staff and industry leaders, but, more importantly, you'll be able to engage face to face (digitally!) with people like you. Because not feeling alone makes this work a lot easier.
KSMP Presents: Nope, we haven’t forgotten. Your valuable feedback about community perception, what it is and what we’d like it to be, is what we’ll be discussing on our upcoming office hours call. Shelter Playgroup Alliance Presents: This is the first of a two-part workshop series on the implementation of enrichment and inter-dog playgroups in shelters. During this first session we will review the components of a shelter enrichment program and discuss how inter-dog playgroups play a role. Additionally, we will take a dive into inter-canine communication signals that serve as a foundation for the management of dog playgroup.
CVMA Presents (fee applies): With over 2,300 volunteers, the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CAVMRC) provides emergency veterinary medical care to animals in disasters. As part of the CAVMRC’s mission to train and credential veterinary professionals to support animal and public health during a disaster, the CAVMRC is offering a low-cost, interactive online continuing education course to veterinarians, RVTs, and veterinary assistants.

Maddie's Fund Presents: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, animal shelter workers, volunteers and animal welfare leaders from across the country have been meeting every Monday morning - NEW TIME 8 AM PT/11 AM ET as of 9/23/20 - to discuss protocols, ideas, obstacles they’re facing and more.
VDOS Presents (fee applies): This VDOS webinar will review the most common perioperative complications that can occur during dental and oral surgery procedures, including neurological deficits, tracheal injury, oral edema, orbital injury, trigeminocardiac reflex, and vomiting and regurgitation. Fabrication of tape muzzles and placement of feeding tubes will also be discussed. The didactic lecture will last 1.5 hours, but the webinar is designed so that there is extra time for interactive participation and answering your questions.
Dog iBox Presents (fee applies): In this exciting webinar, Helen explains the Life Skills for Puppies Approach, offering a wonderful opportunity for professionals and the public to gain a better understanding of puppy behaviour.
