Webinar – 6/24/20 – Million Cat Challenge: COVID Control Strategies – Maintaining Safety During Re-Opening and Beyond – Maddie’s Fund

June 24, 2020 by Linda Jacobson, DVM, Julie Levy, DVM, PhD, Jennifer Murphy and Phil Nichols, RVT, CAWA

Audience: Executive Leadership, Public, Shelter/Rescue Staff & Volunteers, Veterinary Team

“Opening up does not mean the outbreak is winding down. It means there is space for you in the ICU.” – Dr. Scott Weese

Re-opening shelters and services brings the risk of COVID-19 resurgence. A holistic strategy is needed to implement new measures and change the internal culture so that staff understand and buy in to this prolonged “new normal.” The Toronto Humane Society’s new strategy, designed to keep staff and public safe, provide a roadmap for reopening that can be customized for shelters and clinics everywhere.

Join us on Wednesday, June 24 at 12n Pacific / 3pm Eastern for a presentation and Q&A with Million Cat Challenge co-founder Dr. Julie Levy and Dr. Linda Jacobson and panelists from Toronto Humane Society.

    This webinar will be recorded.

Although directed to technicians/nurses, the seminar will also apply to anyone wanting an anesthesia/analgesia review, including veterinarians and veterinary students. There will be time for Q & A so you can learn almost anything you want to!

  • Webinar – 6/15/20 – Introducing Highly Reactive and Aggressive Dogs – A Case Study – Ken Ramirez – Karen Pryor Academy

Webinar – 6/15/20 – Introducing Highly Reactive and Aggressive Dogs – A Case Study – Ken Ramirez – Karen Pryor Academy

Introducing Highly Reactive and Aggressive Dogs – A Case Study – Monday, June 15, 2020 | Noon EST, 9 AM Pacific
With KPA’s EVP & Chief Training Officer, Ken Ramirez

Ken will share the case study of a project he conducted from 2013 through 2015 in Chicago. He will explore the challenges and protocols he followed in working with four dogs rescued from Chicago area shelters. Three of the dogs were severely reactive, one was a trained fighting dog, and all had a bite history. The protocol followed was an introduction protocol, not an aggression treatment protocol. Although the project resulted in a significant reduction in aggression, the protocol was designed to teach animals how to live together and how to cohabitate. Ken will share the details of the protocol and share the steps he used to teach the dogs to work cooperatively and live together.

Ken Ramirez is the Executive Vice President and Chief Training Officer at Karen Pryor Clicker Training (KPCT). As a trainer and consultant with nearly 40 years of experience, Ken also served as the Executive Vice President at Chicago’s world-famous Shedd Aquarium.
