Maddie's Fund Presents: Maddie’s Fund, in concert with American Pets Alive!, hosts a weekly hour-long Zoom call for animal welfare workers and volunteers. While these calls started out as a response to COVID-19, it’s grown into so much more. These calls are a safe place to discuss uncomfortable topics, all while sharing a common goal of preserving the human-animal bond.

VETGirl Presents (fee applies for non-members): In this 1-hour, VETgirl anesthesia webinar, Dr. Mike Barletta, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVAA reviews how the anesthesia machine works, different oxygen sources, oxygen flowmeters, vaporizers, CO2 absorbent, and scavenging systems. Dr. Barletta will also describe different breathing systems available on the market and will review how to choose the appropriate breathing system for different patients.

PPG Presents (fee applies): Given how behaviorists, ethologists, neuroscientists and veterinarians often get into conflict, this talk discusses how our cognitive biases impact knowledge acquisition. Cognitive biases makes us reject information that we should accept, and accept information that we should reject.
Maddie's Fund Presents: Join us for an open, informal 30-minute conversation and Q+A with Allison Cardona, Deputy Director of Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control. In this discussion with Maddie's Fund Executive Leadership Team member Mary Ippoliti-Smith, Allison speaks of overcoming her own experiences with systemic bias and what she sees as initial steps we can take to widen diversity, equity and inclusion in our field while strengthening the human-animal bond.
The AAWA Presents: Learn about eye injury treatment and disease management both in the shelter and in foster care. This presentation will discuss common eye diseases in the shelter environment, including causes of corneal ulceration, conjunctivitis, and eye loss. Attendees will gain an understanding of the challenges of providing proper eye care to shelter animals, including staff training, equipment, and costs.
Fear Free Presents: In part due to the excellent veterinary care that we deliver to our patients, we are presented with more geriatric cats and dogs now than we were 10 years ago. Most of us didn’t learn much about how to recognize and treat cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) in dogs and cats. In this session, attendees will learn the most up to date prevention strategies and treatments of CDS in dogs and cats.
