Our aim as trainers and behaviourists is to support puppy education to minimize the risk of unwanted behaviour developing and maximize successful adaptation to a modern human environment. Over the past few decades the literature regarding puppy rearing and puppy education has grown. Although many questions are still to be answered, there is information available which can help inform our practice. This includes information which can support best practice in puppy classes as well as the advice we give owners and breeders regarding raising their puppies. This talk will examine some of the available literature from the perspective of what it might mean for what we do in practice.
