Online Course – Starts 3/7/21 – Feline Behavior Solutions: Teaching Foundation Behaviors for Modifying Behavior – IAABC (fee applies)
IAABC Presents (fee applies): Modification of any problematic or unwanted behavior requires mechanical skill, knowledge of species-specific behavior, and experience with a variety of strategies and techniques. This course will provide opportunities for anyone who works with cats to gain all of that, and more. Each of the five weeks is packed with information that can be directly and immediately applied to a variety of cat behavior cases, from aggression to anxiety and from fighting to fear.

VIN/VSPN Presents (fee applies): Appropriate pediatric care and client education is critical part of companion animal practice. It helps set the stage for lifelong health, enhances the bond between owner and pet, and helps avoid common preventable diseases. This course will discuss important topics that need to be covered during wellness visits, vaccination and deworming protocols, and common health conditions encountered during the pediatric period. We will focus exclusively on those patients between the ages of about 6-16 weeks of age. A separate class on VIN focuses on the care of the neonate.

VDOS Presents (fee applies): This VDOS webinar will review the indications, biomechanics, equipment/instrument/material needs, and techniques of tooth extraction in dogs and cats. Closed and open techniques will be described step-by-step, including the creation of flaps in one jaw quadrant and the use of high-speed tools for sectioning of teeth and removal of alveolar bone. Tips will be shared on how to make tension-free flaps for wound closure. The didactic lecture will last 1.5 hours, but the webinar is designed so that there is extra time for interactive participation and answering your questions.

The Problem Oriented Veterinary Medical Record (POVMR) or problem-oriented approach is not new to the practitioner. However, in this lecture we will discuss how it is applied for behavioral health in the shelter environment. Cases will be discussed while the approach will be practiced.

But the cost of medications can add up quickly and the record keeping requirements can become challenging. This session will cover considerations when using compounded medications, including preparing them in-house. We will also discuss controlled substance record keeping for compounded and commercial products, as well as how COVID-19 has impacted medication access.
