Only some of these events are produced by the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. Most are being created and sponsored by other groups and agencies. Being listed here does not mean that we have reviewed the material contained. We are trying to provide a variety of resources to hopefully help make your life a little easier. Maddie's Fund Presents: Maddie’s Fund, in concert with American Pets Alive!, hosts a weekly hour-long Zoom call for animal welfare workers and volunteers. While these calls started out as a response to COVID-19, it’s grown into so much more. These calls are a safe place to discuss uncomfortable topics, all while sharing a common goal of preserving the human-animal bond.
Fear Free Presents: In this presentation, Valarie Tynes, DVM , DACVB, DACAW will provide multiple suggestions for helping the system run more smoothly without sacrificing the emotional health of our patients. The result will be an appointment that runs more efficiently because the patient is more relaxed and a happier, more satisfied client because they see their pet having a less distressing experience at the veterinary clinic.
VETGirl Presents: Join us for a complimentary 1-hour, online VETgirl–Zoetis CE webinar, where Dr. Elizabeth Colleran, DABVP reviews how to manage feline osteoarthritis (OA). Left untreated, feline OA can impact the quality of life in our feline patients, as is it often under-recognized and undertreated.
Pet Professional Guild Presents (fee applies): While systematic desensitization continues to be the gold standard training method for dogs who are afraid to be alone, a down-stay DRI is highly effective for dogs who are frustrated and can even be helpful for the fearful pups as well. Join us to brush up on your desensitization training skills as well as learn how to use a DRI down-stay to help more families gain the ability to leave their homes without worrying about their dog.

The Bridge Club Presents: Mast cell tumors (MCT) in dogs are very common, accounting for approximately 20% of all skin tumors. Karen Pryor Academy Presents: Join Ken Ramirez, KPCT’s Chief Training Officer, for a free virtual event live from The Ranch on Thursday, April 1, at 12:00 pm (PT). Humane Canada/PetSmart Charities of Canada Present (fee applies): The National Animal Welfare Conference is a MUST attend event if you are involved in animal welfare. It has been the biggest and best-attended animal welfare conference in Canada since 2014. In 2021 we are expecting to welcome over 1000 attendees online from across Canada and abroad.
